Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do you balance functional medicine with a conventional Western medicine background?
I have experience in both traditional Western medicine and functional medicine. That combination can often be called integrative medicine. A functional or holistic approach focuses on identifying and treating the root causes of chronic disease, environment, and lifestyle interact within the body’s systems, often using personalized plans with diet, supplements, and conventional tools like medications when needed. This approach is generally complimentary to traditional Western medicine or in some case tolerated better.
2. Can functional medicine support really help with chronic skin conditions?
For sure! Functional medicine addresses underlying causes rather than just treating symptoms, which is common in a traditional Western medical clinic. To start, there is a comprehensive assessment of factors like diet, gut health, stress, hormones, environmental exposures, as these can contribute to conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or acne.
3. Are your methods backed by science?
Yes, functional medicine’s methods are backed by science to varying degrees, though research is still evolving. There is growing evidence supporting the gut-skin connection with studies showing how gut dysbiosis or inflammation can contribute to skin issues like atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and acne.
4. How personalized are your plans?
My treatment approach for skin diseases integrates a holistic, root-cause perspective, shaped by my training with the esteemed Root Cause Dermatology, a leader in addressing dermatological conditions comprehensively. I focus on personalized protocols that combine science-backed supplements, targeted lifestyle changes, and optimized nutrition to address the underlying causes of skin issues like eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
5. What skin conditions do you treat?
Although the treatment of skin is wide, I focus mainly on atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, seborrheic dermatitis and alopecia areata. I do not treat skin cancers or blistering disorders. These protocols can be helpful for both adults and children.
6. How long does it take to see results?
Results vary from person to person; some see quick changes just by suggesting simple diet changes, others might take longer. Patient feedback suggests improvement can come as little as a month or so, but it does take time. More importantly it takes consistency and dedication to improving health through lifestyle changes and rebalancing the gut.
7. Do I have to stop seeing my primary provider or dermatologist?
Absolutely not! Our approach is complementary to conventional treatments.
In some cases, we can help with conventional treatments but in others we will suggest protocols that might work the best for you.
8. Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes, we offer virtual consultations to make our services accessible to clients nationwide. Whether you're near or far, we're dedicated to supporting your journey to healthier skin and a balanced gut.

10. Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, insurance does not cover services like these. Service like this tend to spend more one-on-one time with patients. However, depending on your plan, HSA/FSA funds may be able to be used toward the cost of services.
11. Do you need to start with a GI Map test?
Ideally, yes! I understand the upfront cost might seem a bit much, but for most people there is extreme value in the test. It’s the base for the root cause approach. We must know what’s going on with the inside skin before we can better treat the outside skin.
12. How much will it cost?
We utilize a token system to ensure that your investment is well-respected and valued. Understanding the costs involved is important, and we invite you to learn more about the GI Map and OAT tests, each priced at approximately $300. Additionally, supplements may range from $200 to $225 per month for a duration of 4-6 months. We’re here to help you make an informed decision about whether this program is the right fit for you.
